Bushwhacking on the Russell Fork Event Rules
- Elkhorn City is dry; thus alcoholic beverages are NOT allowed. If you make a disturbance, you will be asked to leave. This is a family event.
- All registration applications are subject to the approval of the ECAHC. All participants must register upon arrival. Military rank must be included on the registration form, along with a complete listing of participants for each unit.
- The hosts reserve the right to disallow any item, person, or activity deemed unsafe of inappropriate.
- Please keep all anachronisms under cover at all times. The camping areas should be free of motorized vehicles except for set up and break down.
- All uniforms must be proper period materials and construction. Proper weapons and gear should reflect an early war (1861) impression.
- No live ammunition or fireworks. Gunpowder should be carried as pre-rolled period cartridges only.
- All participants must carry a medical card/registration pass with them at all times.
- Bayonets will be fixed only on the order of the Commanding General.

Safety is our primary concern. Weapons safety inspections will be held prior to troop formation for each battle engagement. Weapons must be clean, fully functional, and in good working order with no cracks in metal or wood, no loose or missing screws, and no obstructions in the barrel. All weapons must be inspected and these safety inspections are mandatory. The Provost will have the final decision on weapons failing to pass inspection. Also, anyone reporting for battle deployment must have a full canteen of water.
Upon arrival, all artillery shall undergo a general safety inspection under the supervision of the Provost. In addition, artillery shall be inspected prior to all engagements. No artillery charges shall be rolled at the event. Planned firing of artillery shall be coordinated through the Provost. - Minimum age to carry a weapon is 16 years old.
- Officers with rank over Captain must notify the sponsors in advance of the event in order to be assigned an historical role.
- Infantry officers will be limited to one for every 20 men.
- Campsites must be set up according to period regulations. All campfire safety precautions must be followed.
- An authenticity inspection will be conducted each morning before spectators will be allowed to enter. Compliance with an inspector's decisions is required.
- Horse owners will need to present a current Coggins test report.
- Horses are not to be in the sutler, registration, or food areas.
- No gunfire after 11:00 p.m. at night and not before 12:00 noon on Sunday.
- For safety precautions, children must be supervised at all times.
- In the event of a dispute, the final decision will be with the Elkhorn City Area Heritage Council organizers.
